I love working with kids and teens and creating a therapy space that feels comfortable, engaging, and meaningful. My style is warm, playful, collaborative, and curious. I enjoy exploring what may be happening beneath the surface while helping clients build practical tools, confidence, and greater overall well-being. Below, I have answered a few questions so you can get to know me.
Meet Jessica
A short introduction from Jessica is being filmed.
Why I Chose This Field
I chose this field because I love helping kids and teens make sense of themselves and the world around them. I believe there is so much more to a child than the behaviors we see on the surface, and I want them to have a place where they can explore who they are, understand what they're feeling, and find ways to communicate what they need. My background in recreational therapy helped lead me here, especially as I realized how meaningful those deeper connections and conversations were to me. This path gives me the opportunity to do more of that work while helping clients build tools to navigate challenges, find meaning in their experiences, and create a life that feels more manageable and fulfilling. Ultimately, I hope the work we do together helps them feel more confident in who they are and supports their overall well-being.
What I Bring to This Work
I bring warmth, curiosity, creativity, and a genuine desire to understand each client as a whole person. I enjoy finding ways to make therapy feel engaging and meaningful, especially for kids and teens who may not always have the words for what they're experiencing. My background in recreational therapy and behavioral health has also taught me the value of hands-on experiences, flexibility, and meeting people where they are while helping them build confidence, connection, and practical tools they can use in everyday life.
Who I Work Best With
I especially enjoy working with kids and teens who may be feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, unsure of themselves, or struggling to put what they're experiencing into words. I'm drawn to clients who are navigating things like anxiety, depression, trauma, family or life changes, relationship challenges, or simply trying to figure out who they are. I value giving them space to explore their experiences at their own pace while supporting them in finding healthier ways to cope, communicate, and move through their world.
What a Session With Me Looks Like
Kids and teens do not always process what they are going through by simply sitting down and talking about it. Play, movement, creativity, and hands-on activities can give them another way to communicate, explore emotions, and make sense of their world. Because of that, our time together may include talking, playing, creating, moving, practicing skills, or using other experiential activities. I want each client to have space to express themselves in a way that feels natural and meaningful to them.
What I Think Creates Change
I believe change begins with creating a space where kids and teens can feel welcomed, supported, and comfortable being themselves. When they have opportunities to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without pressure, they can begin to better understand themselves and find new ways to cope, communicate, and grow. Providing those experiences, both in therapy and with the support of the people around them, can create the foundation for meaningful change.
If You Are Not Sure About Starting
It is okay to feel unsure about therapy. Parents may wonder whether it is the right fit for their child, and kids or teens may not know what to expect or how they feel about starting. Having questions is normal, and you do not have to have everything figured out before deciding what comes next.
Outside of Work
Outside of work, you can usually find me spending time with my horse, Luna, or hanging out with my dog, Bailey. Horses have been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I also love being outside, catching up on a favorite show, or getting lost in a good book.
