A Therapist for American Fork Families, Fifteen Minutes North.
One office, in Alpine. Or by video, from your own house, anywhere in Utah.
The Drive, Honestly
Ten to fifteen minutes north, either up 700 East or along Alpine Highway, depending on which side of town you start from.
We are telling you this rather than rounding it down, because the drive is what decides whether a course of therapy finishes. Fifteen minutes each way plus a fifty minute session is a real hour and a half out of a weeknight, every week, on top of whatever else is already going wrong at home. That is worth thinking about before you book rather than in week nine when everyone is tired of it.
For plenty of American Fork families it is entirely workable. For some it is not, and there is a straightforward answer for those.
What Video Changes for You
More here than it does for families closer in. A session by video costs you fifty minutes rather than an hour and a half, happens from your own house, and does not require anyone to be collected, driven and returned during the worst hour of the day.
It works anywhere in Utah — but only in Utah, because a therapist has to be licensed in the state where you are physically sitting during the session. What it needs from you is a private room with a door. Therapy through a bedroom wall is not therapy, and a teenager who suspects someone is listening will say nothing worth saying.
Plenty of families mix the two: in person when the week allows, video when it does not. It is the same therapist either way, so switching format is not starting again.
Where American Fork Families Are Coming From
Most of the teenagers we would see from American Fork are at American Fork High School. From there the office is a straight run north rather than a cross-county trip.
We are an outpatient practice, not a school service, and we have no arrangement with any school. If a counselor needs to be part of the picture, that happens with your written consent.
